BALIDEA collaborates in the Galician government's (Xunta) Digital Volunteer program

Balidea is one of 16 companies in Galicia's IT sector which have joined the Digital Volunteer program promoted by the Government of Galicia, under which the companies act as digital patrons contributing financially in the training of volunteers, the donation of IT equipment and other goods, donation of workspaces, supporting communication initiatives or financing specific events.

The program promotes the "digital patronage" as opposed to the more traditional "occasional sponsorships", thus promoting that companies commit to collaborating in a sustained and long term manner, so as to achieve the aims and objectives of the project.

A total of 67 companies, municipalities, associations and public organizations have already joined this program which is being promoted by Galicia's Agency for Technological Modernization (AMTEGA) and the Ministry of Labor and Welfare in order to facilitate access to new technologies to the elderly and to people with disabilities, with the support of volunteers.

The initiative aims to aggregate individuals' solidarity, together with the social responsibility of IT companies, and the collaboration of non-profit organizations, and the promotion of the use of public infrastructure, to increase digital literacy policies.

Balidea was represented at the signing of the agreement between the promoters of the initiative and the voluntary organizations by its Chief Technical Officer and Partner, Lorenzo Rodriguez Corrales. The event, which took place this morning in the City of Culture of Santiago, was chaired by the director of AMTEGA, Mar Pereira, and the Director of Youth and Volunteering, Ovidio Rodeiro.
